When I Saw Your Face

“I am proud of the child we will see for the first time tomorrow at our 11:45 ultrasound.”

The words I wrote just a half a day before we knew.  The words I wrote just 2 short days ago.

I am so glad you all shared our joy for those brief hours, and oh my how you felt it, too!

For the few friends who do not follow us on Facebook, I want to share that the ultrasound Friday showed that our child had died a few weeks before we shared the news of her life.  She was born at the hospital early this morning with just her dad and me there.  I hope to share her birth story soon.  I promise it will make you smile.

Happy Birthday to our little girl.   We are so blessed by your life.  Blessed to call you ours, and blessed to hold you close for one night.  We are so very blessed to have seen your face, and can’t wait until the day we can hold you again.

WARNING: attempt at bittersweet humor ahead! May not be appropriate for all audiences! My 4 kids are autumn and winter babies (Sept., Nov. and 2 January birthdays). Both of our expected June births didn’t make it — and now I see that your daughter was also a June baby. I told my husband we should just stick to having autumn and winter babies b/c our June babies always seem to “break”. If nothing else good comes of it, Ferny and Aimee have a new friend to play with and they’ll be waiting for us in Heaven. Matthew 6:21
